If its in a list of things to do, I'm less likely to do it.

How the hell does that work? I thought making a list of things to paint would be some incentive to do some painting, and avoid those... 'I feel like painting but I don't know what to paint' moments. However, it has just left me scouring the internet for alternatives.

Random animal generator - WIN.

So here is an Emu.

The Flamingo was however a request from my friend Louise up in Liverpool to adorn her bare student room.
I think I'm going to experiment with some typography definitions of all these animals overlappping the background wash and white canvas.

Magpies rule.

One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, four for a boy, five for silver, six for gold, seven for a secret never to be told, eight for a kiss, nine for a wish, ten is a bird not to be missed.

My Gran taught me that when I was really very little, and walking home today I saw the greenest magpie I have ever seen. After saluting it, I felt inspired to go home and paint.

This is done using only Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Pthalo Green, Yellow Ochre and just a touch of white. I stayed away from using black, as the bird itself isnt black and my colour mixing could do with some practice.

New Banner

Cause the Octopus is cool, but could do with a new angle with my new found painterly style.
Watercolours rule.

Number 2 on my list.

Acrylic on VERY cheap canvas paper. A3.

Randomness.

Apparently... when I am bored or have the sudden occasional urge to paint, random animals are my go-to subject. So enjoy this very, very sickeningly cute duck, and a much more awesome Meerkat.

Exhibition

Here are a few snapshots of the end of year exhibition. It was nice to finally see my work together. Usually you do a piece, finish it then put it away and start on a new one. Was nice to see that I actually had a style! Hallelujah!

Missed the opening night because of bar work. LAME. But still feeling a bit proud that I have got this far :)

Squirrel.

The first painting of the summer.
That is such a horrible sentance.
First painting - oh dear I have been slacking lately. Its been about a month since my last university deadline and I have only just started painting again?
And 'Summer'. Painting has sort of become work, which is not good. Thats the problem with doing a course you enjoy. It becomes coursework, not so much a hobby anymore.
So fun stuff only.

Here is a quick squirrel painting I did today.
